Exit Party: Emily St John Mandel
Book Review from Volunteer Rebeccah

Emily St John Mandel’s latest book Exit Party speaks very much to our time. A novel of ideas, it extrapolates from the disruptions that exist now in the USA. It begins only a few years into the future after some kind of collapse or civil war. Mandel creates parallel versions of post breakdown United States, with baffling links between the two that play out across the world.
This is speculative fiction with a mystery at its core, and it is also a very compelling human story. The settings and characters are beautifully developed, and the story pulls the reader through darkness and light as the mystery is unravelled and lives follow their interlinked paths.
