Meg’s Chapter

Meg’s Chapter No. 7

An Update

It’s been a busy time so the newsletter is a combination of the last two months. In August we hosted Petronella McGovern discussing her new novel Every Time She Wakes. It follows Suze and her family who are kidnapped during a bushfire. But it happens on repeat. This is a time lapse, time bending thriller that will keep you reading to the last page. It has many threads and Petronella talked about keeping all those threads together. She said it was a nightmare to edit but you would never know that from reading the novel.

In September we hosted a sellout event for Michael Robotham discussing his twentieth novel Tell Me Something True, the first set in Australia. It is the first novel he ever wrote, but after being told novels set in Australia don’t sell, it languished in the bottom drawer gathering dust until now. This is the third time we’ve hosted Michael and he is a wonderful raconteur who keeps the audience laughing with his stories.

That event was closely followed by the Northern Beaches Readers Festival, a bi-annual weekend event. So many great sessions, so many good writers and lovely readers from our community who came and enjoyed the sessions, mingled, purchased books, got them signed and talked to authors. We salute Sandie Docker, her committee team and festival volunteers who worked hard behind the scenes to produce a professional event. Once again Avalon Community Library was proud to be a sponsor and be a part of this outstanding weekend.

We have our last two events for the year coming up – check them out here.

Cul De Sac by Eleanor Limprecht

“Cul De Sac” by Eleanor Limprecht

A new release from Eleanor looking at a how children and parents can be affected when the marriage of a couple from different countries and what happens when things go wrong in the relationship.

A thoroughly excellent read.

tell me something true

“Tell me Something True” by Michael Robotham

Mr Robotham has produced an outstanding Australian mystery with his usual flare of giving us characters we recognise and love. And the setting in small town Australia is a winner.

I would say its one of his best novels.
