Avalon Community Library is a community based organisation staffed by over 70 volunteers and a Library Coordinator.
The library is in the heart of Avalon and looks out towards the beach. It is a lovely place to grab a book or magazine and to sit a while in our reading area. Along with our own collection we have the added advantage of being linked to the Northern Beaches Library catalogue. Each year Avalon Community Library receives a grant from the Northern Beaches Council.
The Library is Temporarily Closing
Avalon Community Library Committee wish to advise that a temporary closure of the Avalon Library will be effective from 5pm Wednesday 18th March until further notice due to the current coronavirus (COVID-19).
We have taken this step to help protect not only our community but also the 70 plus volunteers who help provide the library service.
This is not as a result of any positive COVID-19 diagnosis.
The Avalon Community Library Committee has considered this decision very carefully and realise that we are a vital service to our community. However, in the interests of everyone we feel this is the right decision given the fast moving changes in the current situation and advice from the government and health authorities.
Library materials can be returned to any Northern Beaches Council Library while they remain open. We have a range of fantastic online resources including, eBooks, eMagazines, eFilms and eMusic which you can access for free as part of your library membership.
Overdue fines will be waived at this time and/or extension given on books.
The Northern Beaches Library Service can be contacted by phone on 9942 2449 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
We apologise for any inconvenience but the health of everyone is upper most in our minds
