Meg’s Chapter No. 3
An Update
It was a full house at our author event for Natasha Lester discussing her latest novel Chateau on Sunset. Joanna Nell, one of our favourite Avalon authors was on hand to ask all the right questions, keeping the audience entertained. Thanks to the volunteers and Sandy who stood in for me while I was holidaying in Queensland.
Here at the library, we don’t let the moss grow under our feet as two weeks later we hosted Candice Fox discussing her latest release Redbelly Crossing with another of our favourite Avalon locals Michael Robotham. Candice told us many hilarious stories relating to her life which had our audience cheering for more. What a fun and entertaining night.
We have two events coming up. Deborah Lawrie discussing her memoir Touching the Sky with Claudine Tinelles. Don’t miss this extraordinary story of the longest flying woman airline pilot.
Followed closely by Ashley Kalagian Blunt with Like Follow Die in discussion with Michelle Barraclough.
Dates and bookings below.
Author Talk: Deborah Lawrie “Touching the Sky” Thursday April 30

What else but Redbelly Crossing.
Full of interesting characters with a family dynamic between the detectives and a murder to solve in a small country town. Make sure you read the authors note at the end to fully understand what inspired the story. Grab your copy at the library or a bookshop near you for a wild ride. 5*s from me.

After reading Margaret Atwood’s memoir.
I talked about in a previous newsletter, I decided to read more of her work. Choosing The Blind Assassin, published in year 2000, it has stood the test of time with a nested narrative—a story within a story. Narrated by elderly Iris Chase Griffen as she thinks back on her life and that of her sister Laura. I found the writing exquisite and the structure of the novel interesting to keep the pages turning. Copies still available at the library and also on audio. 4*
